ABOUT ME

Meet Josh.

With over 10 years of experience teaching Yoga, meditation and self development, Josh has transitioned to the world of dog training, psychology, and behaviour.

Having travelled the world running teacher trainings, workshops and seminars, he is now sharing his knowledge and educator skills to help pet owners understand their furry friends better.

About Josh Blau

With thousands of students around the world, Josh is committed to teaching people how to build a strong relationship with their dogs through training and relationship building. He believes in creating a calm, centred, and well-balanced pack that benefits both the dog and the owner.

Josh’s passion for dogs and their psychology began when he started helping shelter dogs and working with extreme cases involving fear, aggression, and anxiety. Through his work, he has learned that almost all dogs can be helped if we understand how to engage with them and communicate with them in ways they understand.

With his extensive experience and commitment to positive reinforcement techniques, Josh is dedicated to helping pet owners create a stronger bond with their furry friends while addressing any behaviour issues in a humane and effective way.

SO WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?

So, what is balanced
dog training?

Balanced dog training is a comprehensive
approach that incorporates various techniques
to effectively train dogs.

UTILISING A VARIETY OF TECHNIQUES

BENEFITS FOR DOGS AND OWNERS

EMPOWERING DOGS AND ENHANCING LIVES

As a positive first dog trainer, my primary focus is on using positive reinforcement to teach dogs. However, I also believe in the importance of teaching dogs to understand the meaning of “no” and recognising when they engage in undesirable behaviours.

Similar to humans, dogs possess individual differences in learning styles. Consequently, it is crucial to tailor the training methods to suit their unique needs.

Relying solely on positive reinforcement or negative techniques alone is limiting in terms of what dogs can learn.

Therefore, in balanced dog training, we demonstrate to the dogs that their choices and behaviours can yield either positive or negative outcomes.

In my approach to dog training and behaviour modification, I employ a combination of reward-based techniques and mildly aversive methods. It is worth noting that these techniques are recognised and endorsed by the National Dog Training Federation, which serves as Australia’s primary authority in dog training. Moreover, these methods are carried out humanely, ensuring the well-being of the dogs throughout the training process.
